Yesterday Avant, the mission agency my husband works for, held a day of prayer and fasting in support of their short-cycle team heading to Central Asia. *Side note: I am not a perceptive person. My mom once had her master bedroom completely redecorated and as I stood in the room I had the feeling that something was different but just couldn't pin it. LOL. My mother could have just strangled me, it took her pointing out
ALL of the changes before I caught on. Yeah - I'm quick I tell ya. The thing is that I like to go about my merry way just thinking about butterflies and happy rainbows that I just sometimes don't stop to see the whole picture - next thing I know I'm splashing through a mud puddle or tripping over a bush. It's the price my friends and family must pay for having me in their lives. Back to my story.So, I'm fully aware of the prayer and fasting. I've been praying periodically through the day. When my husband called me the final time it was on his way home, recapping the wonderful day it was and just how awesome God was at making the fasting part not be tough for him and all. To close the conversation I say, "I'm so glad everything went well! We're having eggs and bacon for dinner, how long before your home?"Yeah....I did. I forgot to fast all day - even through the updates from my husband it totally did not set in. Then, I top it off by making dinner for him. I'm such an idiot! Excuse me while I chase this pretty little butterfly towards that happy rainbow.
Last night I had the opportunity to share some learnings from the Song of Solomon at our monthly Ladies get together at my church. We covered a couple of characteristes of Solomon's bride that she displayed during their dating period. I think it went pretty well. I get a couple of days to breathe and I will begin to finalize the second part of this study. Next month we're going to cover a few characteristics she displayed while married (during their struggles and leading to their marital growth). It'll be a great time I'm sure - but I'm sure I'll disappear for a bit again as I prepare. Labels: fun, Happy Boy, Happy Girl
One way I helped to break the intinisty around the Happy home as I prepared was to fool around with the kids and our scanner. Nothing says fun like scanning your face....
I always enjoy seeing God make his presence known in my children's lives, usually it is in ways that most would deem "small". However, to them it is huge.
Today was the latest pleasure. My son and I were at a friends home when we heard the ice cream truck nearing. We tried so hard to run out the door to catch it only to see it rounding the corner and driving off. My son was heartbroken. When we left we had about 15 minutes to kill before my daughter's school dismissed so we decided to drive around the neighborhood to find the truck. No luck. We drove all around the school and my home's neighborhood and just couldn't find it.
We picked my daughter up and headed home. We had about 15 minutes to pack a dinner before we had to head out for the evening's activities. As we headed out the front door, you know what we saw?
The ice cream truck was parked right in front of our house!
My kids flipped they were so excited. Ice cream in hand we buckled into our seats in the car and gave God an awesome prayer of thanks.
Now, you may think I'm crazy for thanking God for ice cream. But I want to teach my kids to see God in everything. Ice cream may not be a very important thing to an adult, but to a child it means the world. And there is nothing sweeter than seeing my kid feel loved by God.
Addie has shared before a glimpse of my son's love of wearing costumes here...and my son snuck a cameo in on this post. We've covered Spiderman, Red Power Ranger and Darth Vader just in Addie's site (what I was willing to dig through...there could be more). Labels: Happy Boy

It was so exciting for me when I woke up and had received a comment from Anonymous.
So, Anonymous and any other potential people who may still be checking this blog on occasion, I'm in my yearly spring hibernation from the blogosphere. This is the busy season with my real estate company and I tend to get a bit distracted from the blogging world. However, that being said, I have been missing it a lot. And I keep thinking to myself "I should blog about that" but then I just don't get around to it.
Then, this very week I had this funny little experience.
I saw Sally Field’s latest commercial promoting B0n1v@ and about busted a gut laughing. Have you see that commercial? She says, "My friend has to set a side a WHOLE morning once a week to take her osteoporosis pill."
Really? It takes a whole morning to down a pill? Are you kidding me?
So, while I was feeling sorry for Sally's friend and having thoughts of just how bad her life must have been before B0n1v@ the thought hit me: Geez, what if I just set aside 15 min. a week to blog. That way I can get at least something out there and not totally come off as being dead.
I think sometimes I look at tasks similar to how Sally's friend looks at them. "I have to set a WHOLE morning aside to blog." Not so.
All that being said, I'm gonna try to do a bit better.
This post just keeps getting longer....
One the same train of thought, how often do we do that to God and our personal study time? We keep putting it off because we make this big mountain out of it. Just spend a few minutes a day...we don't have to set aside a WHOLE morning, not even a WHOLE hour (though it would be nice). I know I do this a lot. I just don't have time today to get in the word...
