I always enjoy seeing God make his presence known in my children's lives, usually it is in ways that most would deem "small". However, to them it is huge.
Today was the latest pleasure. My son and I were at a friends home when we heard the ice cream truck nearing. We tried so hard to run out the door to catch it only to see it rounding the corner and driving off. My son was heartbroken. When we left we had about 15 minutes to kill before my daughter's school dismissed so we decided to drive around the neighborhood to find the truck. No luck. We drove all around the school and my home's neighborhood and just couldn't find it.
We picked my daughter up and headed home. We had about 15 minutes to pack a dinner before we had to head out for the evening's activities. As we headed out the front door, you know what we saw?
The ice cream truck was parked right in front of our house!
My kids flipped they were so excited. Ice cream in hand we buckled into our seats in the car and gave God an awesome prayer of thanks.
Now, you may think I'm crazy for thanking God for ice cream. But I want to teach my kids to see God in everything. Ice cream may not be a very important thing to an adult, but to a child it means the world. And there is nothing sweeter than seeing my kid feel loved by God.

Teaching them to thank God for everything is such an needed life lesson. Thanks for the great reminder (and the excuse to eat ice cream...)

That is awesome! I believe every good thing that comes to us, even ice cream, is God's way of showing us how much he loves us to the very small detail. : )

I am completely losing it... I can't find your email address ANYWHERE! It's like I erased it or something (which at the moment I wouldn't put past me - since I seem to be doing a lot of really dumb things lately).
I can't find your card either.
Could you email me?

God is so good, don't you just love Him so much! I love that He provides for us ALL the time because people always so we should stop having kids if we can't afford them... well I say God always provides, like when boxes of diaper or food show up on our doorstep. He's so good.

'taint this the truth!
And He does spoil our kids, and us.
He does.

I found you through the Faith Lifts - I just love this post! As much as He "spoils" our kids - He also spoils us! I think He likes watching us get something we enjoy just as much as we like watching our kids eat ice cream. What an awsome gift to give your little ones - the gift of thanks.

Oh my goodness, I love your story, and I love the fact that the truck was parked right in front of your house. God has a lovely way of doing things. :)
Thanks for coming by my blog today. So funny that we have stories so similar.
