Do you have kids? I do. I have two, a 5-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son. My daughter loves to talk, in fact, she rarely stops. She'll go on and on and on about nothing! Usually I'm trying to rush her through the stories that have at least 3-4 phrases that are repeated in various ways. However, the other day I stopped myself. I sat and I really tried to listen to every detail - even though it was repeated several times. You know, I got to thinking about her life and how this story really wasn't about nothing. In her young life, so innocent, so simple, so uncomplicated this was a HUGE story. Then I thought, "Thank you, God. Thank you, God, for allowing her to have such a simple happy life." So many times in my adult world I listen to those stories and just blow them off because I just want to get back to "important" stuff. I've decided I need to really listen more often. One, because it is a great connect for my daughter and me. Two, because there is no better way to escape the adult life of craziness, worries, and complications.

What great truths there are expressed by the innocence of children. We would do well to listen more to them often, as well as just listening to others in general because to the storyteller, the story is HUGE to them. How often we forget. Thanks for the reminder!
If only I knew what went on the feeble minds of my dogs! :)

This is one thing I love about blogging. I read this on Thursday, (after I finally got hooked up to the internet again...yeah!) and I have thought about it often over the last couple of days. Thanks for the reminder to stop and listen. All of the stuff that we think is so important right now won't be nearly as important in 10 years, but building a bond and giving our children confidence will be infinately important!
Thanks Bek!

Thanks for the reminder that we must stop and take the time to listen to our kids. I don't want to be a parent that never knew the innocence of their child because they were to busy to listen. With an 11 year old it really shows me that time goes by very fast and you wonder where it went. I appreciate your honesty and for sharing.
Thanks!!!
